7 Most Common Style Mistakes Men Make
Paying attention to settle details is a must in order to look and feel your ultimate best. In doing so, your style will instantly stand apart from the crowd and make a name for itself.
Often overlooked, these are the “6 common style mistakes men make” that you can avoid to maintain a strong sense of style:
ILL FITTING CLOTHES
Way too often men gravitate toward clothes that fit sloppily. As they age, they’ll choose clothing that’s way too big in order to hide problem areas — but this will only make things worse. My number one advice for this is to take a minute to analyze the way your clothes fit in the mirror, and if you notice them hanging off your body in anyway that’s a bad sign. You always want your clothes to lightly skim your body, doesn’t matter if you’re a thin or larger built man, these rules ALWAYS apply.
2. WRONG SIZE TIES
Ties are designed to flatter your body structure and compliment the width of your jacket lapel. You never want them to fit too wide or too small for your frame. They’ll only end up looking clownish if they’re too big — if they’re too small, you’ll end up with excess space between your and tie and shirt and it just won’t look right.
3. ACCESSORIES THAT DON’T MATCH
Matching your tie and pocket square precisely is an outdated way of accessorizing and will age you very quickly. Ultimately, we want to keep things stylish and modern — instead, you’ll want to match your pocket square to your shirt. This is a foolproof way of combining your tie and pocket square and gives off a much more fresh and up-to-date appeal.
4. IGNORING SHOE CLEANLINESS
Shoes are the first thing people notice when they see you, and a clean pair of sneakers says ALOT. Worn down or dirty shoes instantly downgrades an otherwise great outfit. Not to mention, long term damage to feet, ankles, knees and lower back. So keep cleanliness top of mind by replacing any old shoes with new ones.
5. IGNORING DETAILS
As the saying goes, the devil’s in the details.
It’s cliché, but true. Not taking the time to steam out any wrinkles, de-pill, or lint roll your garments speaks volumes about the way you care for yourself. Before leaving your home, make it a habit to make sure everything is free of defect. You’ll look and feel exponentially more confident in your appearance if you dedicate a few minutes to ensure these boxes are checked before stepping outdoors.
6. NOT INVESTING IN KEY PIECES
Just to clear the air, you don’t need to spend a fortune on your wardrobe. You can buy budget friendly items (i.e, t-shirts, sweaters and jeans) and extend their livelihood with proper care. But note that pieces like outerwear, shoes, blazers and suits (if worn often) are a different story. Buying quality in these areas matters most, and will pay you back in quality, longevity, how good they look and more. You’ll be hard pressed to go cheap in these areas and expect great return, so choose wisely!
7. AVOIDING SKIN HEALTH
What’s having a fantastic wardrobe if your skin isn’t under control?
