5 Accessories That’ll Instantly Boost Your Look

Finding stylish clothing is just a portion of the equation for a well put-together look.

Next is finding the perfect accessories that’ll instantly take your style to that next level.

Keep reading to discover what they are…

  1. Day-time Bag

If you work in a more dressed-up environment, a briefcase is the perfect accessory to help compliment your more sophisticated attire.

Go for one that offers the flexibility of detaching the shoulder strap for added convenience.

On the other hand a quality backpack is another option, ideal for all your travel or gym needs.

This choice is more suitable for those in casual work settings or with a more 'mobile' office setup where a briefcase might not offer enough space for all your on-the-go items.

2. Classic Watch

At the bare minimum, you’ll want a casual and dress watch in your collection.

Most clients I work with tend to broaden their watch options over time, but starting with a dressy and casual version is good in the beginning.

Casual watches usually feature a metal bracelet, fabric strap, or alternative attachment method.

A more formal watch will have a leather strap. Choose a leather strap when you’ll be more dressed up; like if you’ll be wearing a collared shirt, dark wash jeans and a pair dress shoes for example.

3. Narrow Wallet

Go for a bi-fold or card case for a sleeker profile compared to the traditional wider wallets - which tend to cause unwanted pocket protrusions.

A thinner wallet offers more flexibility, making it easy as ever to carry in your pockets or bags without adding bulk.

Leather wallets are so sleek, durable and will last for quite a while — you can even go with a cruelty-free alternative like vegan leather as a more sustainable option.

4. Sunglasses

A nice pair of sunglasses can truly elevate your overall style game, making it a definite mainstay in your wardrobe.

Be sure to have a couple of options in your collection — with versatile shades like black, matte black, or tortoise shell being the one’s you’ll want to get first. These classic choices will add a special “coolness” to really top off your outfits.

Exploring fun and bold colors is definitely tempting, but it's better to invest in the highly versatile pairs mentioned first — that way, you're covered for any and every occasion.

5. Tie, Tie Bar & Pocket Square

Basic Black Pack Pocket Squares

Boost your casual outfit with a textured, neutral color tie in either solid navy, grey and/or black. I love to style my clients in one that has a bit of texture to it — a plain silk tie can come off flat and outdated, so I’d avoid.

A tie bar not only helps to keep your tie in place, but it’s also a nice compliment to your tie, adding a little something special to it — so I strongly suggest wearing one.

To start, go with a neutral tie bar, in either a silver / matte silver or grey — if you’d like to explore more colors, totally fine — just be sure to get professional help and find colors that’ll best compliment you.

And finally, you’ll never go wrong with a simple white cotton pocket square. You can even go for ones with colored tipping or a subtle print or pattern to add flair — but a crisp a white pocket square is a fool-proof way to add interest to dressier casual outfits — all the way up to suits without overdoing it — so at the very least, start there!
